Game 30: St. Cloud State at UMD

Pressure isn't the right word.

Maybe I'll go with "opportunity."

UMD has already clinched the regular-season series against St. Cloud State after Friday's 4-2 win. Now, opportunity knocks on a couple fronts.

A win in the series finale sweeps the season series from a longtime nemesis -- also returning the favor after SCSU pulled off a clean four-game sweep of UMD last season. It leaves UMD very much in the conversation for the NCHC regular season championship with six games remaining.

(Yes, it's a longtime nemesis. You have to go back to the 2007-08 season to find the last UMD regular season series win over the Huskies, and that was just two games. The last time UMD won a four-game regular season series from St. Cloud State was 1997-98, when the Bulldogs won three of four.)

(Hell, if UMD gets three points tonight, North Dakota gets none against Denver, and Miami and Omaha both fail to get three points in their respectable games, UMD ties for the league lead.)

Home sweeps are fun. I'm a fan of stick salutes. Let's get another one and make it five straight wins.
